Dehydration

Dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluids than it takes in. This can happen for various reasons, including excessive sweating, diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and not drinking enough fluids.

Symptoms of dehydration can vary depending on the severity of the condition but may include:

In mild cases of dehydration, drinking fluids such as water or sports drinks may be enough to restore hydration levels. In more severe cases, medical treatment, such as intravenous (IV) fluids to replace lost fluids and electrolytes, may be necessary.

Preventing dehydration involves maintaining adequate fluid intake, especially during increased fluid loss during hot weather or exercise. Drinking enough water per day and consuming more fluids during physical activity or illness is recommended. Monitoring urine output and color to ensure adequate hydration is also essential.
