Hospice Care

3 generation family at home

Hospice care is typically offered to patients diagnosed with a life-limiting illness with a prognosis of six months or less to live.

Hospice care is typically provided in the patient's home. Still, it can also be provided in a hospital, nursing home, or hospice facility. Hospice care teams typically comprise healthcare professionals such as nurses, doctors, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers who work together to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families.

The services provided by a hospice team may include pain and symptom management, emotional and spiritual support, assistance with activities of daily living, and counseling and education for patients and their families. Hospice care is designed to improve the quality of life for patients by managing their symptoms and providing support to them and their families during the end-of-life process.

Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans typically cover hospice care. It is available to individuals of all ages, religions, and cultures.
