A way has been created to help people who have lost the ability to speak due to a severe disability.

With the help of a computer, brain waves are decoded into words that a person wants to say, which are then translated to a screen in real time.

Thanks to artificial intelligence, the program consists of more than 1000 words, accounting for more than 85 percent of everyday communication in English. The name of this study is BRAVO, acronym for Brain-computer interface Restoration Of Arm and Voice.

In the future, scientists will develop this system’s potential by adding even more words and improving the accuracy of reproduction. This will allow people who have lost the ability to speak to communicate more with their loved ones.
